AFTER-HOURS ANSWERING SERVICE

After-hours answering service, sorted by urgency.

Most calls after 6 PM can wait until morning. A few cannot. WarmAnswer answers after-hours calls in your company’s name, applies the rules you set for what is urgent, and leaves your team a clear summary of the rest.

What “after hours” really covers

For a trade business, after hours is more than overnight. It is the evening rush when homeowners get home and notice the problem, Saturdays, holidays, and the stretch of a weekday when the only person who answers the phone is under a sink or on a roof. Every one of those calls either reaches a person, reaches voicemail or goes to the next company in the search results.

A good after-hours answering service does not try to treat every call as an emergency, and it does not let a real one sit in voicemail until 8 AM. It sorts.

Four decisions that define your after-hours coverage

  1. Your hours. When the office is open, when it is not, and which holidays count.
  2. What is urgent. The conditions that justify waking the on-call person, for example active water, no heat in freezing weather or a safety concern, and the ones that do not.
  3. Who gets the urgent call. The destination that rings, how long it rings and what the caller hears if nobody answers.
  4. What everyone else hears. A next-business-day callback promise, in your words, plus confirmation that the details were recorded.

WarmAnswer turns those four decisions into the receptionist’s rules. You review them before any call is answered.

What your team sees in the morning

Each call becomes a short record: who called, why, how urgent it appeared, whether the address is inside your service area, and what action the configured workflow recorded, such as a priority callback request or routine inquiry. Your team starts the day with a call list, not a voicemail queue to replay.

How WarmAnswer handles after-hours today

  • In the current pilot mode, WarmAnswer answers the connected number directly.
  • Missed Call Rescue, where your phone rings first and only unanswered or after-hours calls forward, is released separately after carrier forwarding and loop prevention are proven.
  • No phone number is connected until the expected cost is approved. Included minutes, overage and caps stay visible.

AFTER-HOURS FAQ

Before you change your night routing.

Which businesses can use WarmAnswer after hours today?

Plumbing companies, through a controlled pilot. HVAC, roofing and electrical contractors can request early access; those trades need their own call rules before any number is connected.

Can I use it only at night and on weekends?

Many phone systems can forward calls on a schedule. During a pilot the forwarding from your carrier is tested before real traffic moves. Ring-first forwarding, where your phone rings and only unanswered calls go to WarmAnswer, is released separately once it has been proven.

What happens with a real emergency at 2 AM?

Before activation, we agree and test your urgency rules, approved immediate-danger wording and the handoff your team will use. Any on-call transfer, failed-transfer fallback or notification channel must be configured and verified before it is offered to callers. Otherwise, the agreed workflow captures a priority callback request for your team.

Does after-hours coverage cost extra?

Plans are priced by month with included minutes, any overage rate and an optional hard limit shown before activation. The pricing page shows the current plans.
